Prospect Farm

We couldn’t bet the ranch.
But we did go back to the farm.

The idea

In 2021 we had to cancel Greenbelt Festival for the second year in a row. But, after all the stresses and screen time of the pandemic, we wanted to do something. And so did you. So we met in the fields – in much smaller numbers than a usual year – for a camping gathering inspired by the original Greenbelt Festival back in 1974, Prospect Farm. You gathered, chatted, played, prayed, listened and chilled. Reconnected and rediscovered.

The setting

The first-ever Greenbelt Festival was held at a place called Prospect Farm. We may have re-used that name, but for this Prospect Farm, we gathered at Boughton House – our festival home since 2014. The landscape’s trees, waterways and vistas played a critical part in our communal experience and gave us a beautiful space in which to unwind.

The community

We provided the fields and put on a handful of musicians, poets, speakers, discos, and workshops each day; you brought your open hearts and minds, your tents, caravans, campervans, and most of all, your creativity. Your pop-up events and performances made Prospect Farm something really quite special. The community notice board was jam-packed with goodness: sing-alongs around the campfire, basket weaving, puppet shows, gender and sexuality discussions, debut saxophone performances, pop-up knitting groups, and board games nights, just to name a few.

The photos

We’ve gathered up some of our favourite shots from Prospect Farm. Have a browse, see if you can spot yourself, an old friend or a familiar face.
