Pearl Fish is a young sprite of a singer songwriter from South East London who’s dreamy and flawless voice can make you believe in a world of fairytales and magic. She has had a passion for music from a young age, sings, songwrites and plays guitar, violin, piano & harmonica and is teaching herself banjo, ukulele & accordion, when she can finally get her hands on one.
Pearl’s varied influences, range from Joni Mitchell to Laura Marling and Ben Howard; folk, indie and jazz and her enchanting voice harks back to the sound of Diana Krall.
She has been building a following on her YouTube channel , which showcases her pure, warm, expressive voice; some performed with the loop pedal and her own harmonies. They show the versatility and originality of her own folky interpretations of songs from a wide range of genres, which she has “Pearlesced”
Her home shot videos retain her youthful innocence and allude to make-believe and adventure. The funny little out-takes reveal her shyly awkward, playful side. Her own song writing displays subtle poetic lyricism, with a strong leaning towards a folk narrative tradition, which is showcased on her first music video, “Tide” and Travelling Man on her Soundcloud.
In 2012 she played at the Brimmington Community Festival, participated in XLP Southwark Talent Showcase, won Hope Festival Youth Talent Show, and played at the Half Moon Herne Hill London as a support act. She was chosen to take part in the London Mayors Gigs Big Busk Competition summer 2012, including busking in the Paralympic Park.
In 2013 she took part again in the Mayor of London’s Big Busk – this is one of her original songs. She played on the Youth stages of a variety of festivals in London and beyond, including Lewisham People’s Day, Callyfest, the King Cross Carnival opening and Greenbelt. She has been selected to busk at the O2 for the BRIT Awards 2014.
