Wendy Cope OBE read history at university and then worked in London primary schools for 14 years.
Since the publication of her first book, Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis, in 1986 she has been a freelance writer. Her fifth collection of poems, Anecdotal Evidence, was published in 2017.
