Here at SCM we’re really excited about our eclectic mix of worship, workshops and panel discussions at Greenbelt 2016. We’ve prepared a space to just hang out and meet other students, helping you connect with friendly faces to keep in touch with over the coming years. So look out for us in the G-Source village, and if you’re a student, chaplain, student worker or church leader come and pick up your free goody bag!
Here are a few of our Greenbelt 2016 highlights:
Student Christianity – is there another way?
The Forge, Saturday, 6pm-7pm
How can local churches be more welcoming to students? How can we ensure that student Christianity is inclusive of minority groups? What are students looking for? This is your chance to ask questions, share your ideas and discover how we can create a little bit of Greenbelt in university cities across Britain. Panellists include:
– Revd Sally Hitchiner, Chaplain to Brunel University and founder of Diverse Church
– Hilary Topp, SCM’s National Coordinator
– Emma Temple, Student Outreach Worker at the Leeds Universities
– Revd Catrin Harland, Methodist Chaplain at the University of Sheffield and founder of The Junction, a student led worship service for students and young adults.

Come and make your very own star and reflect on what inclusion means. With SCM trustees Emma Temple and Debbie White.
Dalit liberation and resilient spiritualities
The Shelter, Saturday, 11.30am-12.15pm
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from liberation theologian and Dalit activist Revd Raj Bharath Patta. Through listening to Dalit stories, drumming and prayers this workshop will provide an opportunity for people to join in deeper solidarity with Dalits for justice and liberation. Raj is currently studying for a PhD in Religion & Theology at Manchester University and was formerly General Secretary of SCM India.
Feast or Famine worship
The Shelter, Monday, 11.30am-12.15pm
A time of worship reflecting on feasts, feeding, calling and community with prayers, conversation, song and food. Explore what feeds you and how we – as Christian individuals and communities – can better feed others. With Alex and Jo Clare-Young.
Going to Uni?
The Village Hall, Saturday, 4.30pm-5.30pm
If you are preparing to make that big step in the next month, don’t miss our workshop to learn from the experience of our panel of students. How can you make new friends? Find a church? Learn to cook?
And last – but definitely not least – join us for a drink and a chance to meet other students at the Student Meet Up in the Jesus Arms on Sunday at 6.30pm. All welcome!
