World Down Syndrome Day – Celebrating James

World Down Syndrome Day – Celebrating James

Wednesday March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day

We wanted to take a moment today to spotlight and thank James, one of our festival volunteers. James has Down Syndrome and he’s one of the people who helps make Greenbelt look as gorgeous as it does.

We asked him a few questions about Greenbelt and here’s what he had to say…

How long have you been going to Greenbelt? 11 years

What are the best things about being there? Camping, youth events, listening to the music, walking around the site, eating Chinese and meeting friends from previous years.

How long have you been volunteering? Not sure if it is 2 or 3 years on the site vibing team.

What do you do on the team? I help put up the flags and bunting.

What are you looking forward to this year? Eating his Chinese (!), meeting old friends and being closer to Jesus. (We’re sensing a love of Chinese here James!)

Why should others with Down Syndrome volunteer at Greenbelt? It’s good fun, and you meet new friends

Thanks James! We look forward to seeing what you do make Greenbelt look gorgeous again this year.
