Is a simple country parson sustainable?

 

What kind of church is sustainable in rural Britain? Everybody talks about faith in the city but what’s happening to faith in the country? Is it the preserve of the elderly and nostalgic or is regeneration under way? How many parishes can one vicar look after? And what are your ideas?

Richard Coles is a musician, journalist and Church of England priest. He is known for having been the multiinstrumentalist who partnered Jimmy Somerville in the 80s band The Communards. He also appears on radio and TV as well as in newspapers.
