Church as common property: A 4-year experiment

The Borough Common was founded in 2009 on the principle that church should be common property and has found its feet as a sustainable community. Instead of a leadership team, they created lightweight structures that allowed the whole community to make leadership decisions. Instead of signing up to a set of beliefs, they decided to commit to a shared journey of spiritual growth and doing good in the world. In their talk they will share the structures, rhythms and experiences of their community and ask: if we agree that church should be common property, then what?

The Borough Common is a community in Borough/ London Bridge. Its story can be thought of as journey from post-evangelical frustration to the foundation of a community with a positive shared identity.
