Panel: Being Home

The Pickwell Foundation and their Asylum and Refugee Director Susannah Baker (MBE) bring you stories of how their community in rural North Devon have welcomed people seeking asylum as well as those arriving through the more ‘legal and safe routes’. Challenging the Government’s ‘hostile environment’ in small, local expressions is a beautiful thing for both those welcoming as well as those being welcomed. The session will include a screening of a brand-new film about their work and the chance to meet ‘Granny Pam’, who now hosts former Afghan soldier Imran, and other key characters who have made their local asylum-seeker hotel a place of welcome.
