Paper Making with Bryan Collis

Paper Making with Bryan Collis

Bryan Collis lives near Swansea in South Wales and is exploring the possibilities of making paper from different plants.

He mixes this with research into barriers to employment for people with learning disabilities, consultancy and strengthening local churches.

The paper he makes is unusual: it has texture, reflects the colour of the raw material and carries with it a memory of where it grew. Bryan uses the paper in his own artwork, or sells it to other artists, crafts or printers. He also runs courses for adults and school children so others can join in the fun of making paper and getting closer to nature in a creative way.

A background in botany means that Bryan brings a wealth of knowledge about the plant world to the paper, and the process of papermaking. He is interested in ways that his papermaking can be used in building God’s kingdom and furthering environmental and social justice causes.
