Refugees at Home

Refugees at Home

Refugees at Home connects people with a spare room to refugees and people seeking asylum in need of somewhere to stay. We were set up in 2016 in response to the war in Syria. Since then, we have grown to become the UK’s largest independent hosting charity, finding rooms for more than 6,800 guests from 75 different countries thanks to our network of generous hosts across the UK.

We don’t think people who come to the UK for sanctuary should end up on the streets. Our vision is for every refugee and every person seeking asylum to have a safe place to stay. We recruit and support volunteer hosts who are willing to offer a temporary home and a helping hand. We carefully match each guest and host, following assessment. We prepare them for hosting and we offer support and guidance to hosts and guests throughout the placement.

After making our Greenbelt debut last year, we’re delighted to return in 2025; this time with a space in the TakeAway area where you can relax, engage with stories from some of our guests and hosts, and find out more about Refugees at Home.
