The Proclaimers

The Proclaimers

Murdo Mcleod

When one of your songs is David Tennant’s first choice on Desert Island Discs, and another is Scotland’s unofficial national anthem, you’d think you could retire happy: but no, The Proclaimers are still going as strong as ever, and what a joy to have them back at Greenbelt. A force to be reckoned with from day one: a guitar and two gloriously soulful, un-autotuned voices, belting out songs about real experiences, from snogging on buses to being told to lose their accents (thank God they haven’t). Subject matters have evolved and backing bands have swelled the sound, but they’re essentially the same regular guys, albeit global superstars.
