Stewart Home

Stewart Home was born and lives in London (UK). He has been working as an artist and writer since the early 1980s and had a mid-career retrospective at White Columns in New York in 2011. He is the author of 17 novels, 8 books of cultural commentary, as well as collections of short stories & poetry. Home has visual work in the Arts Council of England collection in the form of morphs and an experimental film.

Home’s latest book is Fascist Yoga: Grifters, Occultists, White Supremacists, and the New Order In Wellness (Pluto Press, London 2025). In this he tells the origin story of the world’s first modern yogi – a Californian escapologist who added some Hindu fairy dust to gym and circus exercises. While lots of us (at Greenbelt and elsewhere) happily practise our downward dogs and warrior poses, in Fascist Yoga Stewart explores an alternate, fascinating secret history of those few who have tried to use yoga to exploit and recruit for their own ends.
