Multi-instrumentalist Laura Kidd writes and produces her own music as solo artist She Makes War…because love is a battlefield.
It’s been a busy year for the Bristol polymath, taking in two German tours, a universally acclaimed one-woman show at Edinburgh Fringe (“a charming hour of biographical storytelling and music…perfectly executed acoustic gems” – The List), support tours with Duke Special (UK) and The Levellers (UK & Europe), a 22 date UK headline tour, dates with tUnE-yArDs, Gruff Rhys, New Model Army and Pretty Vicious and the recording of her third album “Direction Of Travel” (due for release in April 2016) and the “Disarm: Reimagined” EP (released December 2015).
She Makes War is delighted to be bringing her full band show to Greenbelt this year, after captivating audiences around the UK and Europe with her creative solo sets, both at her “Breakfast With Apollo” headline shows and supporting the likes of Suede, The Levellers, tUnE-yArDs, Gruff Rhys, The Magic Numbers, Duke Special, Shlomo, Midge Ure, New Model Army, Glen Matlock and Earl Slick, Nadine Shah, Erica Nockalls and Miles Hunt, Chris Helme and Drugstore.
She Makes War’s third album “Direction Of Travel” is her most ambitious project to date. Featuring guest appearances from Tanya Donelly (Belly / Throwing Muses), Mark Chadwick (The Levellers), Clive Deamer (Portishead / Radiohead), Cajita, Nicole Robson (Bat For Lashes), Simon Goff (Hope And Social), Andrew Skeet (The Divine Comedy) and The McCarricks (This Mortal Coil / Siouxsie Sioux) the album was produced by Laura Kidd and mixed by Dan Austin (Doves / The Pixies / Oceansize) and is due for release in April 2016.
