Tom Waits once opined that “a gentleman is someone who can play the accordion, but doesn’t”, and we feel that Ruairidh Maclean aka RuMac would wholeheartedly agree that he is no gentleman. From Gaelic songs to heavy rock there’s no telling what racket will come out of this Scottish accordionist’s mouth and box (his version of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck can never be unheard). His debut album The Bloody Box is a self-described “punishing cacophony for yer ears”. Slowly the world is becoming aware of RuMac’s unique, anarchic performances and can’t get enough; we were lucky to secure a slot in his bulging diary.
