Simple Cypher fuse Hip Hop and Circus to create dynamic, uplifting performances. The company’s work dissolves the stereotypes that divide us; shattering divisions between race, education and class. From festival stages to urban spaces, public parks to
school playgrounds, over the past few years Simple Cypher has quickly established itself as a leading outdoor circus and dance company.
Founded in 2016 and built through the foundations of hip hop culture – style, originality and unity have had a profound influence on our fusion of choreography, juggling and Cyr wheel to create a unique and accessible vocabulary.
Co-founders Kieran Warner and Chris Thomas met at Swindon Dance’s Urban CAT scheme, then continued training at the National Centre for Circus Arts, specialising in Cyr wheel. Joined by their passion for hip hop and circus it was a natural development to collaborate and create new work together. After winning the National Centre for Circus Arts Business Plan Award, Simple Cypher was born and they haven’t looked back.
