REC.ON(struction) by Max Calaf and Lucas Ruiz

REC.ON(struction) unearths the invisible. In this high-tension journey, two acrobats subvert their universe using trampolines and construction debris. Doubts and raw materials take center stage in a work defined by humor and transgression. Through a game of disobedience and physical imbalance, the artists expose their own fragility. This physical allegory of the midlife crisis deconstructs social stereotypes through curiosity and the necessity of play. A raw, circus-driven journey of adaptation.

This partnership is an international collaboration; an initiative between artists who share similar artistic research and enquiry, and an ode to solidarity among professionals in the sector in difficult times. BotProject and Cia Max Calaf Sevé are two companies established and active in the European circus and outdoors circuits. The members of the companies that are directly involved in this new adventure are: Lucas Ruiz and in Max Calaf, with the support of a large and exciting panel of collaborators.
From this tour de force was born REC.ON (struction), as show that offers a whole new and unexpected approaches to the uses of a trampoline.

Lucas Ruiz was born in Alcoy in 1980. Trained at the Rogelio Rivel circus school and at physical theatre school “Estudi” with the methodology Jacques Lecoq. In 2007 he founded the company BotProject and created his awardwinning show ‘collage’ carrying more than 10 years of experience and more than 300 performances. He is currently based in the Spain where he develops his professional projects from his hometown, Alcoy.

Max Calaf Sevé was born in Barcelona, trained at the Rogelio Rivel circus school in Barcelona, and graduated in Circus Arts at the National Circus Centre in London, as well as a postgraduate level in physical theatre at Royal Holloway University in London. In 2009 he created the company Max Calaf Sevé, a project based on artistic collaborations to create street and indoors shows. In 2018 he opened a new chapter and he attended the Jacques Lecoq theatre school in Paris to continue his artistic endeavours.
