Paul Cookson

Paul has performed his poetry at Greenbelt for 40 consecutive years.

He has compered The Family Twist for over half those years – making it one of the longest running events at the festival.

Paul has been commissioned by Everton FC and BBC Radio 5 Live to write football poems and is poet in residence for the National Football Museum. He is also Slade’s poet laureate!

He has been a National Poetry Day poetry ambassador for several years and his work has taken him to schools and festivals all over the world.

With over a million books sold, he has three new collections due out in the next year.

He is writer in residence for Sing Together and his poems have been turned into songs and sung by thousands of children over the last few years.

He is currently writing with an array of acclaimed songwriters for an upcoming project I’ll Be Bernie – You Be Elton.

Plus, there is an imminent Christmas single – It Isn’t Really Christmas Until Noddy Starts To Sing – written and performed with Don Powell from Slade and Les Glover as Don Powell’s Occasional Flames.

Paul is very busy.
