Painting with Art By Clay

Clay Sinclair wrestles with the world and what it means to be fully human.

His unique, reverse painting on to acrylic, challenges and comforts. Aided with a little humour and a splash of colour, Clay lightens and enlightens the darkest depths of our soul. Issues
concerning identity, connection and vulnerability are reoccurring themes.

Born in New Zealand, Clay came to London in 1996 on a working holiday and soon met his wife (at Greenbelt!!), started a family and has lived in the UK ever since.

In 2005 he gave up his secure job as a civil engineer to create art full-time. His career started on the railings of Hyde Park, but soon led to him being exclusively represented globally
by a major London gallery. After 8 years of being exhibited, but not being involved in the selling process, he felt he needed to re-connect with the public. So, in 2016 he opened his own gallery in his new hometown of Stroud in Gloucestershire.

His creativity exploded during this period and he tongue-in-cheekily set up The People’s Republic of Stroud as a call to post-Brexit unity. This had a huge impact on the town and to this
day PR of Stroud t-shirts, mugs and badges can be bought from the main performance venue in the town.

Clay is represented by Brunswick Art Gallery, London.
