Liz MacWhirter

Liz MacWhirter is a critically acclaimed writer, theologian and speaker.

BLUE: A LAMENT FOR THE SEA (Stewed Rhubarb, 2025) has been performed widely from grassroots settings to Yale University.

Her gothic novel, BLACK SNOW FALLING (Scotland Street Press, 2018), gained a Carnegie Medal nomination for its powerful new mythology.

She has just submitted a PhD on theopoetics and trauma theology, WHEN HOPE TAKES FLIGHT, featuring a novel in free verse which is set on Iona in the 1400s.

As well as writing several new projects, Liz teaches creative writing and theopoetics as an Affiliate Lecturer at the University of Glasgow.
