With a live band featuring incredible soul singer Rachel Modest (The Voice UK, 2022) and British funk legends The Haggis Horns you’ll hear about the true story of the first black women to run for President in 1972.
Music and lyrics are written by acclaimed rapper, composer, playwright Testament who has previously worked with Grammy winner Corinne Bailey Rae, J-Live and Soweto Kinch With a story from celebrated award-winning playwright Zodwa Nyoni (Darkest Part of The Night,The Kiln, Boi Boi is Dead, Tiata Fahodzi).
Expect a soul and raw funk soundtrack inspired by Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin, Gil Scott-Heron, Minnie Ripperton and Sly & The Family Stone – and of course the words of civil rights pioneer Shirley Chisholm herself!
