Cathy Burton

Cathy Burton

Inspired by artists including Tracy Chapman, The Shamen, and Elvis Presley, Cathy Burton is a prolific songwriter and performer as well as an internationally known electronic dance music vocalist.

Cathy’s music and talents have taken her from the roof-tops of Shillong in north east India to arenas in Beirut, from village churches in England to stadiums in Argentina, from an orphanage in Romania to Brixton Academy in London.

Cathy performs both solo, with an acoustic guitar, as well as with her long-standing band. Her work as a singer-songwriter has seen her collaborate with names such as legendary Elton John producer Gus Dudgeon and Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross. In 2010 she fulfilled one of her dreams by releasing an album of self-penned worship music.

In 2007 Cathy entered the world of electronic dance music. Her vocal talents had been spotted by well-respected Dutch producer Raz Nitzan, who was looking for a specific type of vocal for some collaborations he was working on. Armin Van Buuren’s Rain was the first of these, and it became a club favourite around the world. Cathy went on to feature on dance music releases with Producers and DJs across the globe.

Cathy’s fifth studio album, Searchlight, was completed in April 2014.
