The Times reckons Blue Rose Code’s music has an “almost religious intensity and sincerity”, which is a pretty fitting description for Greenbelt, so we think we’ve found you a soulmate. If you like your music in great big Caledonian slabs, invoking the wild energy and gorgeous song-craft of the Waterboys, the Proclaimers, and Deacon Blue, you’ll be up at the front before you know it. The band is led by Edinburgh-born songwriter Ross Wilson, and sits at the edge of contemporary alt-folk, bringing to mind a meeting of Van Morrison and a young John Martyn, both shipwrecked with a bunch of Motown records.
