Bird, Forward Theatre Project

BIRD is created by playwrights Nikki Williams and Ben Ellis, director Amelia Bird, designer Lydia Denno, and puppeteer Annie Brooks, and produced by Forward Theatre Project (FTP).

BIRD is a piece of family-friendly outdoor theatre about flight, freedom and the relationship between humankind and nature.

A lonely young boy makes friends with a fledgeling bird, and his eyes are opened to the natural world around him.

Featuring storytelling, puppetry and live music, BIRD is a feast for all the senses.

FTP is a collective of 20 theatre directors, writers and designers with a strong regional focus, who work collaboratively to create environment-responsive theatre which connects performance with its surroundings.

Established in 2009, they have since produced four full-length productions at venues including York Theatre Royal, the National Theatre, Northern Stage, Live Theatre Newcastle, Soho Theatre, and Latitude Festival. FTP is run by Artistic Director Charlotte Bennett.
