Anton Thompson-McCormick & The Wayfaring Strangers

Anton Thompson-McCormick is a writer, storyteller, and the youth worker at a queer-affirming Baptist church in Brighton. Growing up between Northern Ireland and England, his rural Presbyterian roots instilled in him a love for language and the strangeness of biblical stories. Though he occupies a different theological world now, this love of story stands at the centre of all his work, which aims to engage people in the discovery of their own imaginative worlds.

He is joined by Bethan Davies and Stella Szobody, as The Wayfaring Strangers. United by a rad church youth group, their bond: old Hebrew words and chasing the whispers between Biblical lines. In this, their first outing together at Greenbelt, they’re reclaiming the old-time religion of their respective Northern Irish, Welsh and South Carolinian roots with a Queer Tent Revival.

Special thanks to Genevieve Duque Adao from Queer Christians Brighton, the Szobody Brothers, One Youth Brighton, and bluegrass musicians from One Church Brighton.
