Andy Squyres gives hope to late starters everywhere: he became a full-time musician at the age of 48. By this time, he had lived enough for the songs to be interesting. There’s a light touch to the musical arrangements, but don’t be deceived; there are depths of humanity, love, and pain (“Spent my life turning bad decisions into songs that I can sing”). Around the time of sophomore album Poet Priest, Andy discovered a gift that many would consider a curse: his voice was a natural fit on social media, where his presence soon garnered an international following with its mix of personal disclosure, wry humour, and prophetic hopefulness.
