What will I be doing?
A team helping to host art and craft workshops for festival goers; from drawing to sculpture, from protest art to woodwork, knitting, paper craft, and everything in between!
You will be involved in: stock-taking and preparing materials, set-up and set-down in the venue, welcoming artists to site, welcoming participants, assisting the workshop leader with hosting classes both under canvas and outdoors, and clearing up after sessions. The team works together to make the Studio a hugely enjoyable venue for both our artists and participants.
The team links in with other aspects of the visual arts on site and may be called upon to assist with invigilation of exhibitions elsewhere in the programme if needed.
What skills do I need?
You will need to feel confident in assisting artists to host sessions in a small group and should feel comfortable multi-tasking – welcoming artists and participants, coordinating materials and troubleshooting.
Some roles will require light manual lifting (i.e. moving tables). If you are not able to do this you are still welcome to join the team but please let us know in advance so we can plan ahead.
Practical experience in art, craft and/or design is helpful but not essential.
What hours will I be volunteering?
Preferably you will arrive on Thursday ready for training. Duties will will take place from Friday – Monday evening (inc). Usually you will have one 7 hour shifts each day.
