Shed Galleries

A small team of 5-6 looking after the art and the artists exhibiting in the 3 Shed Galleries (The Allotment, The Garden Shed, The People’s Gallery). We aim to be on site on the Thursday before the festival opens to prepare the sheds (painting, fixing, attaching signs, etc.) and the surrounding space to make sure they are ready for the artists and those attending the festival when it opens at 5pm on the Friday.

During the festival you will be involved in welcoming artists to the gallery and ensuring they have everything they need for their exhibition, invigilating exhibitions, engaging with festival goers who have questions and interest in the work, and opening and closing the venues. Finally, we assist with clearing the sheds at the end of the festival (usually Monday evening but occasionally there are needs on Tuesday morning) so they can be packed away ready for the following year.

As a small team we are friendly and relaxed – planning shifts where possible around each others needs (eg. parents with children to feed) or festival favourites we hope to see.

We also link with other aspects of the visual arts on site and may be called upon to assist with invigilating exhibitions elsewhere on the festival site (eg. in Boughton House) or helping with the Art School.

There are frequently changes to the requirements due to last minute challenges (eg. artists unable to attend, shed’s in poor condition coming out of storage, eleventh hour confirmations, etc.) so we know whatever we plan it could well change. We try to be as flexible as possible to enable and support all of the visual arts at the festival.
