Drivers Team

Drivers Team

The drivers team assists in transporting contributors to and from the festival site.

The team operates from Thursday before the festival until midday on Tuesday with around 25 drivers covering shifts of around 8 hours each day.

Some pick-ups and drop-offs are local to the festival site (Cheltenham train station and hotels), some are further away (Bristol and Birmingham for example) and others are longer distances (such as London airports). There is also a shuttle bus to various hotels in Cheltenham. The drivers team runs this service for 2 hours at a time as part of a shift.

Drivers will need:-

a vehicle which has valid MOT and insurance
You will need to advise your insurance company that you will be using the vehicle for voluntary work over the weekend. This probably won't incur any additional costs, but this should be checked with your insurance company.

a clean driving licence

to be flexible in volunteering hours
some shifts involve a long drive, sometimes up to six to eight hours, but a rota is drawn up to prevent volunteers from doing two long drives in a day

to be available for some early morning or late night shifts

to be personable and friendly
you may be the first face of Greenbelt that a contributor meets

to have a reasonable knowledge of the festival
drivers do some meeting and greeting, and could be asked general Greenbelt questions

to be a good time-keeper
