Illegal drugs and alcohol
We aim to keep Greenbelt a peaceful Festival for all ages, so please tell an official if you’re offered any illegal drugs – we don’t want any on site and will act accordingly. Alcohol is for sale to those over 18 years old in both the Beer Tent (The Jesus Arms) on the Centre Course, and the Wine Bar (The Blue Nun) near the Box Office and G-Source. Please do not drink alcohol in any other public area. Drinking in the thoroughfares or other venues is forbidden. We consider incompetence through the consumption of alcohol as anti-social behaviour. Can I reserve camping space?
No - the reserving of camping space is prohibited.
I am bringing my family, with small children, where should we camp?
The early curfew camping area is ideal for families as it is intended to be an area that quietens down around evening time, and therefore is more suitable for those with young children who need to go to bed early. As an outdoor festival there will always be background noise. However, we do encourage those who want a quieter camping experience to pitch here, and we do our best to enforce this noise curfew.
Is there a limit to the number of tents we can bring?
There is no limit of the number of tents you can bring. However, we recommend that you try to limit the size and number of tents you require to what is strictly necessary, as camping space is limited and so this will enable you to find a pitch altogether more easily.
Can I camp with a day ticket?
As long as you have two consecutive day tickets, you are allowed to camp with a day ticket.
Can I bring a caravan or campervan on the campsite?
Caravans and campervans are permitted on the campsite. Please note there are no electricity points on the campsite and no cars are allowed to stay on the campsite once unloaded.
Can I have my car on the campsite?
We aim to allow cars onto the campsite for unloading and loading wherever possible. But as the Festival continues to grow, this access may have to be limited for some bits of the campsite. Similarly, in the case of extreme weather, constraints on car access may need to be applied.
Can I bring my dog (or other pets)?
Festivals are not conducive environments for pets, and we advise strongly that pets are not brought to the festival. They will be strictly prohibited from going on the festival village site. Guide dogs are permitted onsite, if you are intending to bring a seeing or hearing dog, please contact our access co-ordinator on access@greenbelt.org.uk or call 0207 374 2760.
Can I have a barbecue on the campsite?
BBQs are permitted at the Festival, but we ask that you follow these safety guidelines: 1. If you are using a disposable BBQ, please ensure it is raised off the ground and placed on a stable surface (not on a plastic or formica table, for instance); 2. Please also check that you are not BBQ-ing near by anything combustable or flammable, such a stove, gas cylinders, or your tent!; 3. Please ensure that you do not leave the BBQ unattended and that you have a container of water close by.
Can I use a personal generator on the campsite?
If you are using a personal generator at GB09, please try and contact a member of the fire team for some fire safety advice on the safe use of generators. If the generator you are using is deemed to be unsafe or too higher risk by the fire team you may be asked to stop using the generator for the duration of the Festival. The fire team will take every step possible to assist you in the safe use of the generator. Before the festival you can contact the fire team by emailing firesafety@greenbelt.org.uk. On site the fire team can be contacted through any steward, at the fire station near to the Centaur arena or by contacting the Senior Fire Officer on 07929 133601.

4. The site and its facilities
What facilities are there on the campsite?
The campsite has running cold water* and toilets. There are no electrical hook-ups on the campsite.
*Due to changes in the guidance we receive from the local Environmental Health Officers, we now have to advise campers that, because we cannot control or guarantee what happens to the water taps themselves onsite, you are best advised to boil your water before drinking it. This is not to suggest that the water is in any way suspect; it's not. No one has ever got ill from drinking the campsite water at Greenbelt! But it's just what we have to pass onto you. That's why there will be notices to this effect at each tap stand on the campsite this year.
Are there showers?
There are showers available onsite, run by YMCA. You can book showers in advance of the Festival here
Back to the top
