At 26, Luke Kennard was the youngest-ever nominee for the Forward Prize in 2007 for his second collection, The Harbour Beyond the Movie.

He lectures in creative writing at Birmingham University and his volume The Migraine Hotel has just been published by Salt.

"The poems that I like the most, even if they are strange, are the ones where I think, 'I've thought that, I've had that feeling before, but I've never been able to put it into words.' That's what I want my poetry to do - to give people that sense of recognition, either through humour or through an honest self-evisceration."
