The violence of our times

This first Signs of the Times talk explores “Moses as a war criminal” and “cosmic child-abuse atonement”. How does religion sanction violence, for whom, and at what spiritual cost?

Alastair McIntosh grew up on the Isle of Lewis and is now a fellow of Scotland's Centre for Human Ecology. He is author of Soil and Soul: People versus Corporate Power, described by Bishop James Jones as "life-changing", by George Monbiot as "world-changing", and by Thom Yorke of Radiohead as "truly mental."

He has played a leading role in land reform in Scotland, and was instrumental in preventing the proposed Isle of Harris superquarry. Alastair has also recently been appointed as Visiting Professor of Human Ecology at the University of Strathclyde.
