Art can both reflect and provoke human consciousness – and movies sometimes tell us stories that remind us who we are. But how can cinema help us explore the questions of conflict - violent and otherwise - we're facing today? Using clips from films such as 'Jaws', 'Secrets and Lies', 'Rocky' and 'The Big Lebowski' Gareth Higgins, author of 'How Movies Helped Save My Soul', brings his experience in Northern Ireland to bear on questions of film and reconciliation.

Gareth Higgins is a writer from Belfast who has worked both as an academic and activist, co-leading a post-sectarian peacebuilding initiative for over a decade. He seeks to explore authentic spirituality at the intersection between theology, culture and politics, and is the author of How movies helped save my soul and the forthcoming How to enjoy life without killing anyone.
