Jegrad had its beginnings in the summer of 2006 when brothers Jem and Eric Haagensen began writing songs.
They were soon including their younger sister and brother, Grace and Ray, in performances and decided on the name Jegrad (using the first initial of each of their four siblings names.)
Jegrad has performed at clubs and parties in the past two years and Greenbelt 2008 will be their first major event. They are currently producing their first album which they plan to release at Greenbelt. It will include rock, blues and ballads.
Elder brothers Jem, 14, and Eric, 12, are the core of the band. Jem is lead and rythym guitarist and backing vocalist while Eric is lead singer and bass guitarist. Grace, 9, occasionally plays violin and Ray, 6, is drummer and backing vocalist. Australian born Jem, has also begun playing digeridoo after a 2008 trip to Australia and it features in one of their latest songs.

Jem said song-writing and playing gave him a chance to express his creativity.
'I hope the band carries on because it's what I love to do.'
Eric said he could see the band had great potential as his younger sister and brothers grew up.
'There's no better way to play music than when its with people you love.'
