Elizabeth's Last Stand

Nola Rae

Elizabeth's Last Stand

Betty is an unnoticed woman in forlorn middle age. But behind the closed doors of her bedsitting room she is Elizabeth I the magnificent Virgin Queen of England. Without using a single word, Nola Rae conjures up a world that is sad, hilarious, and never without hope.

This is a beautiful play about loneliness and imagination. It is funny, touching and, in its closing moments, utterly magical.

The play is directed by Simon McBurney (of Complicite) and is suitable for older children and adults.
