Aradhna (with Sanctuary)

Bored of the same old, same old worship music? Then let Aradhna bring you songs of devotion and complete surrender – in a style that will wake up all your senses.

They may be white faces, but Nepali-raised Chris Hales and Delhi-born Peter Hicks are multi-instrumented, merging the sounds of the sitar and guitar to create a new global sound that releases unusual rhythmic patterns and dipping and soaring vocals. Their Bhajans (songs of devotion) take you closer to Yeshu Krist of the Holy Scriptures.

Based in their native North America, Aradhna have been performing their blend of sitar, guitar, tabla and Hindi songs for audiences all over the world, having formed in London in 2000. Drawing their inspiration from the devotional Yeshu bhakti movements of India (where Chris grew up), Aradhna concerts are loved as much for their contemplative focus as they are for the music itself. Some songs have the spontaneous energy of Indian improvisation, while many are quiet and simple. People find themselves singing with Aradhna often without knowing what the words mean, and many have experienced a depth of worship unknown before.

Aradhna return to Greenbelt offering their unique blend of India and the West in music that builds true bridges of art, culture and worship between seemingly unconnected cultures worldwide.

In a word: haunting
