Ann Pettifor is the part-time campaigns director for Operation Noah, the climate change campaign based at Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI).
She is also a director of Advocacy International Ltd, a consultancy that advises organisations ranging from the Global Aids Alliance to the Nigerian government.
In 1994 Ms Pettifor led the design, organisation and mobilisation of the global debt cancellation campaign, Jubilee 2000, which resulted in world leaders cancelling about $60bn of debt owed by 42 countries. Ms Pettifor is a senior associate of the new economics foundation (nef) where in 2003 she edited nef's publication, The Real World Economic Outlook.
In 2006 Palgrave published her latest book, The Coming First World Debt Crisis, an analysis of the threat to economies and the ecosystem of rising western indebtedness.
She has an honorary doctorate from the University of Newcastle, and was granted the Freedom of the City of Callao, Peru in 1999. In 2000 she was granted the Pax Christi International Peace Prize. President Obasanjo of Nigeria made her a Member of the Order of the Niger in 2002.
