L'Arche is a family of 130 communities in 30 countries. In L'Arche Communities men and women with learning disabilities aged 18 and over live and work together with their Assistants.
L'Arche was founded in France in 1964 by Jean Vanier and is based on firm Christian principles, welcoming people of all faiths and none. L'Arche believes that whatever their gifts and limitations, everyone is of unique and sacred value meriting the same dignity and the same rights.
There are nine L'Arche communities in the UK and we welcome enquiries from anyone who would like to think about becoming an Assistant. The group at Greenbelt are representatives from some of these communities in the UK. Their liturgies reflect their daily lives where mutually transforming relationships, times of worship and reflection are treasured.
