Leon Walker

14 year old was the age Leon first pick up his first Guitar, it was a ‘Paul Boutique’ given to him by uncle Paul.

It was around the same time Leon and his mates founded the A.S.V which is the meaning for Ash Smoking Vandals, the gang Leon would be in till the late 2007 when he got his first ever prison sentence of 4 years. He was only 17 years old.

Released on the 4/10/1999 he enrolled on one of his first jobs ‘Order Picking’ working nights spending the week away in digs, Leon hated this job because he had just spent 2years in the Nick ‘Prison’ so by all means this was not going to be any help to the re coving drug user he once was. This became a patten for Leon who was in and out of prison 5 times through his twenty s. All for drug related crimes.

Dartmoor prison was the last nick Leon was in and it was in Dartmoor he met the one and only Billy Bragg.

Since he met Billy Bragg he as been in a documentary called Breaking Rocks, stared along side Billy Bragg and Mick Jones out of the Clash, been on tour of the UK, supported the likes of Reverend and the Makers, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly plus raising money for Jail Guitar Doors which was founded by Billy Bragg to be an none profitable charity helping rehabilitation through music. He as now Just finished his second Album ‘Stay Free’ His first Album Back in the Day was a sell out on his UK tour and Glastonbury shows.

He will be playing Glastonbury for the third year running and say he can’t wait as he holds very fond memories from the Left Field tent and says it makes him feel special.

Leon now says he can’t see himself doing anything else other than his music, which says only one thing.
