Born in Walton Hospital, John grew up in a house on the banks of the Mersey.
A welder, draughtsman, volunteer in an outdoor pursuits centre, student, civil servant, computer programmer, Greenbelt director, community worker, and now a Church of England vicar serving Croxteth and Norris Green, Liverpool, John has always enjoyed walking in the city.
Last year he took a sabbatical where he ‘walked the M62’ and he is about to begin a MPhil titled Urban Walking in L11: Psychogeography and Theology in a White Working-Class Community.
