After last year’s great success the Greenhaus will expand again. A number of new teachers will add their special skills to the mix. Many of the people running the classes are highly skilled professionals in their field, some are full time art school lecturers. The Greenhaus offers people of all abilities and ages a chance to learn new things, work alongside interesting people, make something new and to get your hands dirty. It’s a place to have fun, make friends and take a sideways look at the world.
There are many classes and workshops covering a wide range of skills and disciplines including drawing, painting, calligraphy, printmaking and spray painting / street art. All materials are provided and the classes take place indoors, which is always a useful feature if the weather is unkind. The popular self-portraiture group which ran in the Hub last year has moved to join the art school on the first floor of the grandstand.
Sign-up for the classes this year will be in the Hub which is in front of the Grandstand on the racecourse side. Each afternoon the sign up sheets will be posted for the following day. Most classes are for 20 people, so it’s quite intimate and relaxed. Although we would like to provide an opportunity for the entire festival, it’s first-come, first served and usually oversubscribed‘¦so sign up early if you can.
