Contemplative Fire

Contemplative Fire: creating a community of Christ at the Edge. Their worship Gatherings integrate sign, symbol and spaciousness, drawing on Biblical texts, the Christian contemplative tradition, contemporary Christian art that are woven together with music and chant sourced from early medieval, Russian Orthodox and Afro-celtic, often led by Philip Roderick of Sheer Sound.

Their shared rhythm of life ‘ prayer, study and action ‘ is the heartbeat that binds this dispersed network together. Come and join them!Philip Roderick is a priest, percussionist, educator and author. He delights in improvisational sounding and syncopation, movement and metaphor. As Community Leader of Contemplative Fire (www.contemplativefire.org), he draws together musicians for Greenbelt and other events. ‘Sheer Sound‘ is his first CD and ‘Kenotic Space‘ the second. Philip’s body prayer teaching DVD ‘Sacred Potsture‘ also highlights his commitment to embodied Christian spirituality and the interior dimension of sound, sight and gesture. Philip is also Founder-Director of the international Quiet Garden Movement (www.quietgarden.org). He is the Bishop of Sheiffield’s Advisorn in Spirituality and Chaplain to Whirlow Grange.
