Chris Thorpe has been a parish priest for 19 years, working mostly in urban priority areas to develop new ways of being church.
His work in Bilston near Wolverhampton was included in the latest report of the Church of England Faithful Cities as an example of good practice. His report Breaking the Bread of Community Engagement is included as one of the source documents and can be accessed as an appendix to the document on the web.
Over the past three years Chris has worked in collaboration with artist Jake Lever, interpreting Jake’s images and writing a series of invocations and
prayers, weaving them into worship. Their first booklet, Watchers and Holy Ones was created to accompany the exhibition that has been touring churches and cathedrals for the past two years. Chris has led a number of quiet days using the images as they have toured the country.
