Bulelwa (Mandi) Hewitt is head of Public Relations at Umthombo Street Children. Bulelwa grew up on a rubbish dump in East London, South Africa before running to the streets and living as a street child. At age 12 she was helped out of the streets by another street child and she grew up in a shelter for street children.
Bulelwa co-founded Umthombo Street Children in Durban, South Africa where she is a particular role model to the street girls. She has spoken of her incredible life-story at Downing Street and in various media pieces and has been one of Standard Bank Women of the Year in South Africa as well as honoured by Cosmopolitan Magazine (South Africa).
Bulelwa is married to Tom and has two children Sabelo and Siyanda.
