Angela was appointed to the position of YMCA National Secretary, from 1 August 2006. Prior to this she worked as an independent Management consultant in the public and voluntary sector. During this period she also served as a BBC governor and a member of the correctional services board and the Home Office.
Former CEO of the Church Urban Fund between 1996-2001. She currently serves on two commissions, for the Future of Volunteering and House of Lords Appointments.
Angela has contributed to the development of government initiatives on young offenders, urban regeneration, faith communities, diversity and education. Awarded a CBE in 2000 for services in alleviating poverty, Angela also served as one of seven founding members of the Social Exclusion Unit.
She began her career working for 10 years in the Probation Service, and still retains a strong interest in the field of youth justice. Following that, she served for five years as director of the DIVERT Trust, working with vulnerable young people.
