Virtuous Bread

My Greenbelt Five: Tom Davies

We’re asking people for My Greenbelt Five – five things at this year’s Greenbelt that they’re excited about. To see all Greenbelt Fives, click here »

Here’s the selections of Tom Davies, who is the Greenbelt communications coordinator.

1. Jane Mason

See that bread up there? I made that bread. And I made it after going on the Virtuous Bread course run by the brilliant Jane Mason, who makes the extraordinary link between better bread and a better society.

2. Frank Skinner

Greenbelt’s latest booking for 2012 is an enormous coup. Frank is intelligent, incisive and informed, as well as being an extremely talented and experienced comedian. His Q&A session in the Big Top is going to be fascinating.

3. Bobby Bovell

Goodness, there’s a strong music lineup this year. But I’m most excited about seeing Bobby Bovell. Smooth soul, acoustic pop and the influence of his father – reggae legend Dennis Bovell – come together in an eclectic, electrifying sound. Check out the video for Possible »

4. The Behemoth

John-Luke Roberts and Nadia Kamil together form The Behemoth – an intelligent, silly, ingenious sketch show. They’re bright as a button and refreshingly odd – I can’t wait to see what Greenbelt makes of their brilliant show.

5. Robin Ince & Richard Coles

Two very funny, very intelligent men chatting about science and religion in this unmissable panel. Just the sort of session that could only happen at Greenbelt!

As a folk music fan I am looking forward to Imagined Village and Bellowhead on Monday. Frank Skinner should be interesting-as a fellow catholic. The panel with Robin ince & Richard Coles sounds challenging. I also lokk forward to seeing Giles Frazer. But as well as these, I look forward to being surprised, whether it is in talks, campaigning, music,to come away with a new view of life.

I agree, it’s often the surprise bit (music, talk, theatre etc) that you come away with which challenges and shapes your thinking.
