My Greenbelt Five: Jon Morgan

We’re asking people for My Greenbelt Five – five things at this year’s Greenbelt that they’re excited about. To see all Greenbelt Fives, click here »

Here are the selections of blogger reallyquitetired, aka Jon Morgan:

1. Shane Claiborne (above)

Shane speaks to big things without ever being anything less than disconcertingly real. If you are hoping to hear something powerful and genuine, and to see what spiritual discipline coupled to imagination can achieve, then Shane can help. Warning: the truth of some people’s witness makes powerful demands.

2. Tiny Dragons

I currently seem mostly to be listening to bands with female singers. When it’s not (old) Blondie or (new) Alabama Shakes, it’s quite often these Tiny Dragons, and I’m eagerly anticipating witnessing their full, smokey roar live. Raw.

3. Road To Bethlehem

Why would I turn down a chance to see Leila Sansour’s film documenting four Christmases in her (and Christmas’) home city, and to then hear her and Jeremy Hardy engage questions after the showing? I don’t know.

4. Denison Witmer

An old friend of both Greenbelt and my ears, Denison writes truly lovely songs that suggest he’s a lovely Pennsylvanian man. And then, when he shows up and sings those songs, he and the experience is. Lovely.

5. Drew Worthley

Rumoured to be a favourite of President Obama, Jessica Ennis and Ryan Gosling, this acoustician of much merit makes magic with his slender fingers and large, fragile heart. He also dresses well, which is essential.
