Calling young would-be comperes!

Greenbelt is looking for the next wave of comperes for the festival. Could it be you, your best friend/ sister/ cousin? Or even your (young) teacher?

We’re looking for a compere who communicates with clarity and confidence. You’ll be someone with an electric personality. You’ll be someone who won’t be fazed at the idea of talking to audience of up to 10,000 people.

And here’s the big thing: we’re looking for young people to do all of this. Aged 18 – 30.

The compere we’re looking for must be able to absorb key information and pass it on, improvise around it, and be able to win over a crowd so that – for instance – 3,000 people really will wiggle forward to make more room for others in the Big Top!

We aren’t necessarily looking for someone with compering experience. More importantly, we’re looking for a bright, buzzy person who can be the voice of Greenbelt festival.

So, how do you put yourself in the frame?

Record a 60-second video of yourself. Let us know a bit about you, why you want to compere at Greenbelt and show us what you’ve got by introducing the act you are most excited about at Greenbelt 2012.

Then upload it to YouTube and send us the link by completing this form.

The search begins now and you’ve got until 5pm on Monday 2nd July to get your video in.

The best entry will get a ticket for themselves and a guest to Greenbelt 2012 as well as the chance to compere at the festival.

    Hello.

I am a compere. I compere every Tuesday night at you can watch me do it at www.ustream.tv/channel/freedom-of-expression (next one at 8pm on 3rd July).

I’ve been to Greenbelt for > 20 years and I think I’d be quite good. But… I’m 42. Oh well. I never thought I’d be accusing Greenbelt of ageism! :-)
