Artist & Speaker applications for Greenbelt 2012 open next Wednesday

It's January, so planning for Greenbelt 2012 is well underway, with first lineup announcements due in the next month. But before then, we're opening applications for Artists and Speakers for the Greenbelt 2012 programme - with our new Producer team eager to discover new insightful speakers, fresh and unmissable bands, plus all those brilliant innovations you'd love to bring to the programme...

Greenbelt 2012's theme is Saving Paradise, so we're welcoming applications which might include ideas about the ecology, utopia and redemption, as well as any bright sparks to bring a little light and colour into every aspect of Greenbelt's rich and varied lineup. What have you always wanted to see on the programme, but couldn't find? What could you bring to the party?

Applications open on Wednesday 18th January, so keep an eye on our Contact page and on the blog for more information about how to get involved...

BANDS/MUSICIANS: Please note we will need a link to a song of yours hosted on Bandcamp or Soundcloud. We do not accept CD submissions to the office for environmental reasons, and also to keep costs for bands to a minimum.

SPEAKERS: Please note we will need a link to a high-resolution image of you hosted on Flickr or your own website.

I do not currently have any music on-line and feel very uncomfortable about being pushed to publicise my bands music in this way for various reasons. Is there another way of applying to play at greenbelt? And if so when is the deadline for the submission of a demo?

This is not a nomination for myself but a question on whether I can suggest a speaker. It would good to hear Tim Smit from the Eden Project. He has some very definite ideas on ecology and the future.

PS I do not work for eden but am associated through eductional links.

    Thanks

    @ S.O. Jonas

Hi S.O. - Soundcloud files can be made private, so a private link to a hosted file would be great.

Deadlines and further information will be released on Wednesday.

    Thanks for your interest!

  • Polly says:

WOuld it be possible to have a space for Creating Paradise where we could bring drinks, sit and knit, crochet, stitch and chat on a drop in basis?
Oddments of wool, knitting needles, small sets with fabric, buttons, beads, needles etc could be provided for those who have not brought their own or want to try something different.
    This really would be paradise!

Hi All! I have recently discovered the talents of Staff Benda Billilli from the Congo. Wow!
They are on tour in Europe this year, could anyone follow up whether it would be possible to get them to Greenbelt 2012?
Check out their music and story on DVD

I like Polly's idea! Creating Paradise... or maybe Crafting Paradise.

  • Anne says:

Love the idea of Crafting Paradise.

Would love to see Godfrey Birtill in line-up at Greenbelt - his style of prophetic prayer minstrel/worship leader/"lets have good fun in Jesus" would go down a storm in a variety of venues.

What about reverbnation rather than soundcloud or band camp, or the artists own website.

These are links to my christian songs and to my professional work with custom written songs.

I would love to play my christian songs at greenbelt or hold some kind of “collective conciounce songwriting workshop”
Or any other ways that you can use my custom songwriting skills
