Happy Birthday Jesus! The Sketch Show

It's early doors yet, but if your Christmas diary is filling up rapidly, make some space for a festive comedy show from the brains behind Greenbelt's Last Orders and Happy Hour... it's Happy Birthday Jesus!

Featuring sketches, songs and standup, live commentary on cartoons from Dave Walker (Church Times), and a new year message from Rev. Gerald Ambulance, the team are promising "ba-rum-pa-bom-FUN".

For one night only, an ill-advised comedy sketch show about Christmas, fashioned from flameproof tinsel and coathangers, featuring people with teatowels on their heads ... Come and celebrate the fact that the Christianisation of an existing winter solstice is the reason for the season. The show will answer yuletide’s most important questions - Did the disciples give Jesus both Christmas and Birthday presents, or just one big one? What’s the worst way to begin at a Christmas Day sermon? And do they know it’s Christingle?

All tickets are £5 on the door, and profits from the show go to the Boaz Trust, a charity supporting asylum seekers in the UK. To RSVP, and for information as it updates, check out the Facebook event...

If you are hosting an event in your local community, and would like it featured on our blog, Twitter feed, Facebook page, and our new Event Calendar, please email details, links and if possible a picture (landscape orientation) to tom@greenbelt.org.uk. We can't post them all, but we will feature as many as we can.
