Ticket Deadline Countdown – 4 Days To Go
Each day this week, we're making line-up announcements for Greenbelt 2010. The next ticket deadline is on Friday (April 30th), so be sure to get your tickets!
Today, we're very happy indeed to announce that the comedian Jeremy Hardy will be at the Festival to present his film Jeremy Hardy Vs The Israeli Army.
Jeremy Hardy is a comedian, commentator and Radio 4 favourite. From his unique interpretations of melody on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, to his brilliant points of view on The News Quiz, QI, Jack & Jeremy's Real Lives, and his own series Jeremy Hardy Speaks To The Nation, he is a witty, politically-savvy, and very funny voice in comedy. He was therefore a great choice to experience first hand the life of people within the West Bank at the start of the Israeli occupation in 2002.
The film critic Peter Bradshaw, writing in The Guardian, wrote: "The sight of the wisecracking comic turning emulsion-white with fear brings home the situation with more power than any news broadcast". Although invited to the West Bank by the International Solidarity Movement of Palestine, Jeremy's fear of both sides, and his nervousness at the increasing tension in the region makes for a fascinating and revealing outsider's look at a complex situation.
A lot has happened since Leila Sansour's 2003 film, so it will be fascinating to hear Jeremy's position on current events and a post-screening Q&A will allow you the opportunity to pose the questions you want to ask.
Jeremy Hardy is a brilliant addition to the line-up, and a must-see in August.
